An important note on ASHB memberships for 2023-2024:

We are in the process of changing our membership year from 1 January - 31 December to 1 July - 30 June. As a result, the duration and renewal date of your membership may have changed.
  • Members who have joined between between January 1 –  December 31 2022: Your memberships have been extended to 30 June 2023. Your next membership payment will now be due July 1 2023.
  • ​Members who have joined between between January 1 –  June 30 2023: Your memberships have been extended until June 30 2024. Your next membership payment will now be due July 1 2024.

Why become a member?

ASHB is a professional society representing those working in the area of human biology in the southern hemisphere. Society members represent staff and students at universities running human biology and biological anthropology courses, as well as non-university organisations. The annual ASHB Scientific Conference is a vital forum for the exchange of ideas and development of collaborations, and an opportunity for students to become involved with others actively engaged in the discipline. 

Membership Options

 ASHB Membership:
  • Full membership: For those actively involved in the research, teaching, or practice of human biology (AU$40pa before 31st October, AU$60pa after 31st October)
  • Student membership: For students not in receipt of a full salary  (AU$15pa before 31st October, AU$22pa after 31st October)
  • Associate membership: For those with an interest in the area of human biology  (AU$15pa before 31st October, $22pa after 31st October)
  • Life membership: One-off payment of AU$325​
New membership subscriptions and membership renewals must be completed online (click on relevant link below). We accept payments via direct debit (bank transfer), or credit card payments online. Bank transfers are preferred for members based in Australia.
